Anima Wellness - Your Reflexology & Massage Retreat
About Us

 What is “anima”?

Anima” (pronounced  AH-nee-mah) is the Italian word for soul.

Your anima is first and foremost the immortal part of your person, the part that remains long after you die. Your anima is God-given.  But your anima is also your emotional energy; it is the spirit and passion you bring to your relationships, your artistic endeavors, your work, your life.

“Wellness” is more that just the absence of disease.

Wellness goes beyond one’s physical condition. Wellness is a healthy balance of mind, body, and spirit that results in an overall feeling of well-being.  Our physical health, therefore, is inextricably linked to our mental, emotional, and spiritual health or “soul health.”

In today’s fast-paced, stressful world, wellness can be difficult to achieve. Touch therapy, such as reflexology and massage, facilitates profound relaxation in our minds, bodies, and spirits and supports our bodies’ own intuitive healing processes.

My goal is for Anima Wellness to create for you a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual sanctuary where your body's own natural inclination towards healing and wellness will be nourished.

I look forward to supporting you in your wellness efforts.

About Nancy

I was raised in northern California in the San Jose area, about 50 minutes south of San Francisco.  Throughout my childhood, I was blessed with loving parents and siblings from whom I learned the incredible value of safe, nurturing touch.  I have vivid childhood memories of my dad often saying to me, "Draw a picture on my back...I'll try to guess what it is."  That was his way of cajoling me into scratching his back.  He loved it and I loved doing it for him (although he never really tried to guess what the picture was!).

When I was older and my mom was sick with cancer, she had edema (swelling) in her upper arm as the result of the removal of lymph nodes.  That image of her swollen arm stays with me to this day and has prompted my current study of lymph drainage therapy, a massage technique which encourages the natural circulation of lymph throughout the body.

In April 2007, I was inspired to make a career change and pursue a vocation in the healing arts.  In the fall and winter of 2007/2008, I attended the American Academy of Reflexology in Los Angeles.  In November 2007, I attended Level I of the "School of Healing Prayer" at Christian Healing Ministries in Jacksonville, Florida.  Then in January 2008, I moved to the beautiful Aloha state of Hawai'i to receive massage therapy training at Hawaii Healing Arts College in Kailua, on the island of O'ahu.

These educational experiences and the people I've met as a result of them have enriched my life ten-fold.  God, the Divine Healer, continues to bless me and to Him, I am most grateful.

"For I will restore you to health; of your wounds I will heal you, says the LORD." Jeremiah 30: 17

Approach to Bodywork

As a bodyworker, my primary goal during a session is the client's relaxation. In my opinion, that is when clients receive the greatest healing. My job is to facilitate relaxation which encourages your body's natural intuition and inclination toward healing. Every single day, every single hour, every single minute, our bodies are working on our behalf, doing everything in their power and capacity to help us achieve health and wellness. When we receive bodywork and we take the time to allow our bodies (and minds and spirits) to rest, breathe, sigh, relax, we honor our bodies and we, quite simply, help them to work and feel better.

In I Corinthians 6: 19-20, St. Paul reminds us: "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body."

I truly believe that our bodies our temples of the Holy Spirit and I am honored to have the opportunity to walk with you along your road to wellness.
